Troubleshooting common problems
- The TF2 server's full!
If you sign in, the command to join the server
when full will show up here.
- The server's passworded!
If you sign in, the usual password will appear here.
If the password is changed while you're on the server, you'll be notified of the
new password in the in-game chat so you can rejoin later.
- The server's laggy!
Unless it's a hardware load issue, we can't do anything about lag. If you're geographically a long
way away from France (e.g. on the west coast of the US) you'll probably have borderline unplayable
pings, and unfortunately, we don't have the cash to go lay dedicated Knifeback undersea fiber cables.
- My custom models/textures/particles don't work!
Since it's possible to use custom content to cheat, Knifeback's competetive multiplayer servers
(like TF2) are all set to the strictest sv_pure setting available. If you have a specific custom
model you'd like to use, you can try contacting davejk on Steam, but expect either a "no" or an
abandoned promise to do it some indefinite amount of time in the future.
- My scripts don't work!
Knifeback's Source-engine-based servers are set to disable the wait command in scripts.
If your scripts rely on it to work, they won't function properly. Scripts containing loops that
rely on wait to limit their execution speed may freeze or crash your game. We will never
enable wait-based scripts, and you should probably learn to play the game properly instead.
- I can't log in to the website!
The error page should explain why, so read that thoroughly. If you continue having problems, send
the text in the bottom part of the error page to davejk.
