Data we store permanently
- At the time of registration:
When you register for the Knifeback site, we will store your SteamID
(a unique number identifying your Steam account) and your displayed name
at the time of registration. This data will be made publicly visible
on this Web site.
- When you change your profile:
When you change your "handle", the name you provide will be made
publicly visible immediately.
- When you link other accounts:
If you "link" an account from another service, for example a Minecraft
username, the fact that you have such an account linked will be made
publicly visible. The specifics of that account may also be made
visible, but only if doing so does not present a risk of compromising
information you would not otherwise be making public by using that
account on a Knifeback game server.
- When you donate:
If you donate to Knifeback, a "flag" is added to your account indicating
that you have done so. This is visible to other people using the Web
site, and will cause your account to appear in a list of admins and
donators. The specifics of any donations are not made public, just the
fact that one has been made.
Data we store temporarily
- When you play on a Knifeback server:
Certain Knifeback game servers use a "status tracking" feature to
provide both aggregate and specific details of active players.
When you join a participating server, your SteamID and the name
of the server you have joined is stored in our database and made
visible on this Web site (both as part of an aggregate total number
of players and as an identifiable entry on a list of players). This
data is deleted when you leave the server, and we do not collect
long-term statistical information, even as aggregate figures.
How your data is stored
- Account and gameplay data:
Account data and gameplay statistics are stored securely on our
server in France.
- Donation data:
Personal details included with any donation are stored on PayPal's
servers as per their privacy policy.
