About Knifeback accounts

Knifeback accounts are used to identify you on Knifeback's website and game servers. This lets us provide members with additional features not available to random public users, such as priority joining games and additional server commands.

• How do I create an account? Just sign into this website using the "account" button at the top of the page. The first time you sign in using Steam, your account will be registered.
• Why am I asked for my Steam login? Knifeback uses Steam's OpenID service for authentication, mainly because most of the games we host are Steam-based and use the same ID. Your login details never leave Valve's servers, and we're only sent a unique ID number for your account.
• What's my "handle" for? Your handle is used to identify you to other players. This lets people know who you are if you change your display name temporarily, or if you're playing a game that doesn't allow custom display names (like Minecraft). It's not a username - you can change it at any time and it doesn't have to be unique.
• Why do I need to be in the Knifeback Steam group? It's the easiest way of verifying that you know somebody who's already a member (or know how to ask nicely in the group chat). You can leave the Steam group once you've registered, although doing so will stop you from playing on Knifeback's servers in games that use the Steam Group Server system (like Left 4 Dead and Alien Swarm).
• Can I use more than one Steam account? Each Knifeback account is linked to one specific Steam account. If you use a different Steam account, you'll need to register it with Knifeback separately, and it will appear separately on the website (although you can choose the same handle for it).
• What data is linked to my account? Your unique SteamID, any permissions and flags you may have on Knifeback servers (like admin or donator status), your handle, other account names you've linked (like a Minecraft account), and your game server preferences (like the 'ding' plugin on Knifeback's TF2 server).
• Can I delete my account? Your account can be removed by contacting davejk on Steam.
